Alt.NET Conference In Kauai?

A late night Skype with Scott Bellware has turned into something... stange. We were talking about pies in the face and Mary Poppins, when next thing you know....

The Alt.NET Sunburn
I know first hand that you Alties could use some sun :), and Scott was quick to point this out when I met him in Seattle. Not sure how it happened (I was warned about this actually) but in the course of talking about the next Alt.NET conference, Twitter started lighting up with statements that the Alt.NET show is coming to my home town.

I Say Let's Do It
I missed the Alt.NET show this year due to personal weirdness, and I really wanted to go to the one in October but wasn't sure if I could make myself go to Texas. I think it would be a blast if it were here.

If you're interested, let me know and I'll do what I can to help organize it. Obviously there is a tremendous effort here, and I'd need to know if people were interested before I committed to it.

Awesome. My wife says I can go if bring her. ;) What timeframe are you thinking? I'd like to help organize if you need it.

Not interested in Hawaii for a conference where attendees are likely to pay their own way. Too expensive, elitist, no upside. Why don't you post this to the mailing list and see what the responses are like there?

I was kind of in an overly-creative state of mind when I made the suggestion :)

I still think it's a good idea, but I'm not sure if it's practical now that I'm thinking about it from the perspective of the day after.

I'd be there in a heartbeat, but surely Oahu would get a slightly better response.

I believe it will be a divorce in our family if I go without my wife. But I'll take my chances to get to my first Alt.Net event.

alt.net in Hawaii? That's madness covered in insanity!!

Now, alt.net in the Bahamas...THAT'S practical.

I'd be there, no question. Kauai is the best. Potential problem: 150 alt.netters just might take down the entire island's internet infrastructure.

I think I would be in for that. Might make a vacation out of it with the family. Let us know if it's a go so we can plan! :) Kauai is awesome!

I left your blog post up on my monitor for a day or two... It worked. My wife is onboard and wants to know when we are coming.? So name the date and I will be there!
